Yesterday I signed up for the Angkor Wat half marathon. The poster with the fluorescent riot police told me to.
Today I had to hold onto the banister because walking down stairs was so painful after the 3.24 miles I ran yesterday.
Chemistry 1 laughed at me because I ran this distance in 41 minutes. Apparently this is not a good time.
I also tried to make a bet that I would do it in less than two and a half hours, but my Head of Department won't accept anything less than two and I have a huge hero-worshipping fear of disappointing him.

We are not meant to run. We are meant to read about people that run, and then say, "Ooo I bet I could do that if I tried!" and then NEVER DO THAT.
ReplyDeleteBless your heart - and your sore feet - nonetheless ;) xoxo
Don't worry: I will realise this when I am DYING at the steps of Angkor Wat. Until then, I'm living the half marathon dream!
ReplyDeleteWeek 2: 5 miles in 55 minutes.
ReplyDeleteWeek 3: 3 miles in 29.55 minutes.
I'm gonna smack this half marathon.
Week 4: 6 miles in 64 minutes. People have started telling me I need to get off the treadmill and get outside. Haters. The treadmill tells me how far I've been. The pavement does not.
ReplyDeleteWeek... I don't know, lost count. 3.8miles outside in 40 minutes. 7miles on the treadmill in 1 hour 15 minutes. Significant difference between inside and outside. I know. Apparently the treadmill does all the work for you.
ReplyDeleteT-3 weeks until my hour of death.
ReplyDeleteSaturday: 12k (7.5miles) on the treadmill in t'gym.
Wednesday: 14k (8.75miles) outside in the humidity and heat.
Although this sounds like a phenomenal jump in around a month, that 14k was done in a time that will mean I complete the race in 2h45mins which is WAY over my Li Hi target time of 2h30mins. NOT COOL!
